Australian Three Pence Coin

The Three Pence Coin

The Australian Three Pence Coin is a small silver or nickel-brass coin used in the Commonwealth of Australia prior to decimalisation. It was minted from 1910 until 1964, excluding 1913, 1929–1933 inclusive, 1937, 1945 and 1946. After decimalisation on 14 February 1966, the coin was equivalent to 2½¢, but was rapidly withdrawn from circulation.

During World War II,  coin production was supplemented by coinage produced by the United States Mint at the San Francisco and Denver mints. Coins minted at the San Francisco mint from 1942–1944 contain a small capital S on the reverse, while coins produced at the Denver mint from 1942–1943 have a small capital D on the reverse.

Now The Artisan Mint Works can transform one of these coins into a beautifully handcrafted ring, with a vibrant golden hue and comfortable fit. Click on the image below for more information and ordering.

State Quarter Coin Ring – State Quarter Coin History

State Quarter Coin History

Some interesting history before deciding on a State Quarter Coin Ring.

At Artisan Mint Works. We use standard clad state quarters for our coin rings, and today I would like to outline some of the coin’s history for you.

The State Quarters I use for my State Quarter Coin rings were minted between 1999 and 2008. The State Quarters are in uncirculated condition and make wonderful rings. I do use a skin safe professional grade sealant, Protectaclear, to prevent discoloration.

The State Quarter Program

All State Quarters were produced from 1999 to 2008 by the US Mint. and was the result of the State Quarter Program, which featured each of the 50 states on the quarters. The State Quarter Program started to inspire a new generation of coin collectors, and went on to become the most successful coin collecting program in history. In 2009, the State Quarter Program was followed by the 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Program.

The dates of release

The State Quarters were released in the order in which each of the 50 states ratified the constitution.  Five quarter designs were released per year. The beginning of the program started with Delaware in 1999, and ending with Hawaii in 2008.

The date of mint does not reflect the date of the coins. The date on the coins reflect when each of the states became part of the Union.

To see the full list of state quarters, see each of the designs and find out when they were produced, check out this article on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/50_State_Quarters
